We have an urgent requirement for an experienced General Foreman to oversee a significant substation groundworks project on the Isle of Grain. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled individual with a strong background in heavy civil engineering and groundworks within an industrial or energy sector setting.
As the General Foreman, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all on-site groundworks operations. You will lead and motivate a team of operatives to ensure work is completed safely, to the highest quality standards, and in line with the project programme.
Key Responsibilities:- Supervising all groundworks activities, which may include excavation, deep drainage, reinforced concrete foundations, ducting, and other associated civil works.
- Leading and managing direct and subcontracted site teams.
- Ensuring stringent health, safety, and environmental standards are enforced and adhered to at all times, which is critical in a substation environment.
- Conducting daily briefings, toolbox talks, and site inspections.
- Coordinating with project management, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Managing on-site plant, machinery, and materials to ensure efficient workflow.
- Maintaining accurate site records, including daily diaries and progress reports.
- Proven experience as a General Foreman or Foreman on heavy civil engineering or large-scale groundworks projects.
- Experience working on industrial sites such as substations, power stations, or similar process-driven environments is highly advantageous.
- A strong understanding of reinforced concrete, drainage, and ductwork.
- A valid SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) or SSSTS (Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme) certificate.
- A valid CSCS card.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and man-management skills.
- A thorough knowledge of health and safety regulations.
