Design Manager / Senior Design Manager – Construction Contractor

Location: Cardiff, South Wales

Are you a Design Manager / Senior Design Manager? Do you like working on once-in-a-lifetime schemes? Do you want to work for a fantastic company with amazing progression routes? Then look no further, an exciting role has opened up at one of our leading clients based in the heart of Cardiff, working on a truly remarkable project.

Responsibilities

  • Understand client requirements/output specs
  • Ensure pricing assumptions are consistent with the development of the design – with Pre-construction manager
  • Monitor design progress and ensure the accuracy and completeness of design variables at each stage of the design development process (ITN Phase / PB Phase / Construction Phase)
  • Ensure that all resources for coordination are appointed
  • Prepare monthly reports to Design Leads
  • Responsible for design compliance, buildability, efficiency of design, and supporting the bid process
  • Lead the sign-off of documents to the correct status
  • Prepare and validate the Design Management Plan (DMP)
  • Prepare the Project’s Document Management Procedure in accordance with TEC.CMP.05
  • Endorse Consultants’ DMPs
  • Define consultant values and authorize appointed consultants’ payments
  • Define designers’ objectives: time, details, ratios, coordination, etc.
  • Manage the flow of design information and Document Control
  • Support the procurement and commercial teams
  • Represent the company at Client/User/Local Authority and other stakeholder meetings
  • Coordinate input from the Technical Department necessary to develop a robust design
  • Manage the Environmental Certification Process i.e. BREEAM / CFSH
  • Manage (preconstruction) or participate (construction) in the Design Transfer from preconstruction to construction
