My client, a leading FM contractor, is seeking an experienced Commercial Gas Engineer to join their dynamic team in the building services sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and repair of commercial boilers, pressure steam systems, and associated gas appliances across a range of sites, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Duties

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), servicing, and reactive repairs on commercial gas and heating systems, including boilers, pressure steam systems, pipework, pumps, and controls.
  • Conduct fault diagnosis and rectification of gas and heating equipment to minimise downtime and ensure system efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998 and other relevant health & safety legislation.
  • Complete all necessary documentation and maintain accurate service records.
  • Work closely with other engineers and subcontractors to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Participate in an on-call rota to provide emergency response services outside of normal working hours.
  • Carry out minor installations and upgrade works as required.
  • Provide excellent customer service and build strong client relationships.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience as a Commercial Gas Engineer within the building services or facilities maintenance industry.
  • Strong technical knowledge of commercial boilers, pressure steam systems, and associated heating plant.
  • Ability to carry out fault finding, diagnostics, and repairs efficiently.
  • Good understanding of BMS (Building Management Systems) and control systems.
  • Strong knowledge of health & safety regulations.

Qualifications

  • ACS Commercial Gas Qualifications (COCN1, CIGA1, CDGA1, CORT1, ICPN1) – Essential.
  • Gas Safe Registration – Essential.
  • NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering, Plumbing, or Heating & Ventilation – Desirable.
  • Steam Boiler Competency (BOAS/Spirax Sarco or equivalent) – Highly desirable.
  • Full UK Driving Licence – Essential.
