Are you an experienced Site Supervisor with a specialist background in both highways and heavy earthworks? We have an urgent requirement for a skilled supervisor to join a major highways project in the Norwich area for a long-term freelance role.
This position involves overseeing significant earthworks schemes and requires a hands-on leader who can manage site operations effectively and ensure the highest standards of safety and quality.
Please note: A proven background in BOTH highways projects AND heavy earthworks packages is essential for this role. This is a non-negotiable requirement, and candidates without this dual experience will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities:- Day-to-day supervision of all on-site activities, with a specific focus on heavy earthworks packages.
- Leading and managing teams of groundworkers and heavy plant operators.
- Ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications.
- Conducting site inductions, daily briefings, and toolbox talks.
- Managing plant, machinery, and materials, ensuring they are used correctly and efficiently.
- Maintaining accurate site records, including daily diaries and progress reports.
- Enforcing strict health and safety standards across the site at all times.
- Demonstrable experience as a Site Supervisor on large-scale civil engineering projects.
- Verifiable track record of supervising both highways schemes AND heavy earthworks packages.
- A valid SSSTS (Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme) certificate is mandatory.
- A valid CSCS card (Supervisor level preferred).
- Strong leadership, communication, and man-management skills.
- A thorough understanding of earthmoving techniques, machinery, and relevant quality/safety standards.
- First Aid at Work is highly desirable.
This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated Site Supervisor to secure a long-term contract on a significant local infrastructure project, starting immediately.
