We are recruiting a Section Engineer to join a leading civil engineering main contractor on a major transport infrastructure project in Hampshire. The scheme involves constructing a new bridge spanning a rail line, meaning while this is purely a heavy civil engineering package, exposure to structural/infrastructure schemes near rail corridors is a huge plus.
The Role
- Engineering Control & Setting Out: Executing precise dimensional control for bridge structures, foundations, abutments, and associated civil works.
- Package Supervision: Managing daily engineering activities on site, overseeing subcontractors, and ensuring works progress strictly to design drawings and tolerances.
- Quality Assurance: Managing ITPs, checking materials, completing as-built surveys, and raising TQs or RFIs to resolve technical queries promptly.
- Temporary Works & Safety: Overseeing temporary works execution, ensuring full compliance with RAMS, Safe Systems of Work, and strict site safety procedures.
- Progress Tracking: Working closely with the site management team to update lookahead schedules and maintain detailed daily site diaries.
Essential Requirements
- Heavy Civils Background: Proven track record as a Section Engineer or Senior Site Engineer on major civil engineering, bridges, structures, or highway infrastructure projects.
- Technical Qualifications: Degree, HND, or HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Equipment & IT Literacy: Highly proficient with modern robotic setting-out equipment, surveying software, and basic CAD.
- Site Credentials: Valid CSCS card and SMSTS or SSSTS.
- Rail Proximity (Desirable): A PTS card is beneficial but not essential, as the core package is purely civil engineering focused.
