Quantity Surveyor Location: Peterborough, Cambridgeshire Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 per annum + Benefits Package Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent About the Role A leading construction company operating across the region is seeking a commercially minded and collaborative Quantity Surveyor to join its Peterborough-based team. This position provides critical commercial support to project management teams, ensuring robust cost control, accurate reporting, contractual compliance, and value recovery. The successful candidate will act as a key liaison between project representatives, subcontractors, and key stakeholders, actively identifying commercial opportunities while proactively managing risk. Key Responsibilities Commercial Governance & Financial Performance Lead project-level cost and value reporting (CVRs), cost planning, cash flow forecasting, and earned value analysis. Maintain strict adherence to internal commercial processes, governance standards, and JV/Alliance commercial frameworks where applicable. Manage cash recovery, applications for payment, and overall project expenditure in close coordination with site teams. Contract & Risk Management Administer main contract terms, ensuring risks are identified and properly mitigated. Manage end-to-end subcontractor procurement, including tender negotiations, contract letting, valuation cycles, measurement, accruals, and payment certification. Negotiate and manage contract variations, claims, and additional payments with clients and third parties. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement Work closely with Project Managers and site operational teams to align commercial performance with delivery targets. Build and maintain productive, professional relationships with external representatives, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors. Optimize inter-company trading opportunities within the broader corporate group structure. Share commercial best practices to support the continuous development of operational and site teams. Requirements Essential Experience & Qualifications: Education: Degree or HND (or equivalent qualification) in Quantity Surveying. Industry Experience: Proven track record working within the construction sector. Contractual Knowledge: Solid understanding of NEC and/or ICE forms of contract and fundamental UK Construction Law. Commercial Expertise: Hands-on experience managing subcontractor procurement, chairing progress meetings, running measurement cycles, calculating accruals, and preparing CVRs. Analytical Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in earned value analysis, estimation, and detailed cost modeling. Core Competencies: Strong numerical literacy, advanced MS Office skills, excellent communication, and strong time management skills under tight deadlines. Work Style: Self-motivated, collaborative, and adaptable to working both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Desirable Criteria: Professional membership in RICS (or actively working toward chartered status). Valid CSCS card.
