About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Planner to join our team in Peterborough. In this key position, you will work directly alongside estimating and delivery teams to drive planning excellence and maintain strict control standards across all project phases. You will be instrumental in setting construction logic, maintaining critical paths, protecting commercial interests, and embedding a strong collaborative planning culture from tender through to site completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning & Operational Strategy: Support pre-construction and live delivery teams by defining robust project schedules, optimal construction methodologies, and target outputs while ensuring Health & Safety standards are fully integrated into all planning workflows.
- Win Work (Tender Phase): Produce project plan animations to support 4D digital rehearsals during the bidding stage and review tender programmes to guarantee strict compliance with client requirements.
- Do Work (Project Delivery): Champion a collaborative planning culture focused on regular weekly updates and performance metrics. Track critical path activities and key milestones, proactively identifying operational risks and leading mitigation sessions. Prepare clear site reporting materials for regular project review cycles.
- Get Paid (Commercial & Contractual): Accurately capture, track, and quantify claimable delays. Build impact-of-change programmes that comply with contractual guidelines (e.g., NEC), and advise operational and commercial managers on float usage, overall risk profiles, and completion dates.
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
- Valid CSCS Card.
- Practical UK site-level construction experience with a solid grasp of build sequencing and execution logic.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC and standard forms of UK construction contracts.
- Proven experience facilitating collaborative planning processes.
- High proficiency in Primavera P6 / Primavera Cloud and competency in MS Project.
- Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to translate complex schedule data for diverse stakeholders.
- An innovative, collaborative approach to improving business-wide planning standards.
Desirable:
- Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
