We are currently looking for a Highways Sub Agent to work on a major project in the Penrith area. The role is long term and is Inside IR35.

Site Delivery & Operations: Lead day-to-day operations for allocated highways sections (earthworks, pavement, drainage, structures, or statutory undertaker diversions).

Health, Safety, & Environment: Enforce strict health, safety, and environmental standards across site operations, including leading Risk Assessment & Method Statement (RAMS) reviews and toolbox talks.

Engineering & Quality Assurance: Manage setting out, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), permits to work, quality control documentation, and temporary works management.

Commercial & Subcontractor Management: Monitor project costs, track daily plant and labor records, assist with compensation event/variation identification under NEC4 contracts, and manage subcontractor progress.

Team Leadership: Mentor, manage, and assign responsibilities to Section Engineers, Site Engineers, and site operatives.

Qualifications needed:

  • CSCS Black or Gold Card
  • HND, HNC or Degree in Civil Engineering
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
  • First Aid at Work
  • Temporary Works Supervisor/Coordinator (desirable)

Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
