Randstad are partnering with one of the UK's fastest-growing safety and compliance businesses established just over 20 years ago to find an experienced Asbestos Laboratory Technician. Location: Newcastle

Salary: £27,000 - £29,000

Package: 25 days holiday, increasing by 1 day every year, Stakeholder Pension, Life cover, Employee Assistance Programme, and a Health policy.

What you'll actually be doing day-to-day:

  • Receiving and thoroughly analysing bulk material samples submitted by field staff and third parties for asbestos content.
  • Managing your own workload and helping colleagues hit sample KPIs, aiming for a satisfactory completion of around 70 points each day.
  • Accurately recording test observations and data to produce highly factual, reliable test reports in both hardcopy and electronic formats.
  • Staying on top of quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) schemes, playing a vital role in maintaining the lab's UKAS accreditation and your own authorisation status.
  • Attending technical meetings, communicating with internal stakeholders, supervising trainees, and occasionally liaising with client representatives to provide factual, impartial advice.
  • Ensuring all lab equipment is properly used, well-maintained, and continuously compliant with its calibration status.

What you need to bring to the table:

  • Must hold a BOHS P401 (or the RSPH equivalent).
  • Proven experience working within the asbestos and/or analytical industries.
  • A highly methodical attitude, process-orientated, and fantastic attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under your own initiative while remaining flexible and reliable for the wider team.
