How would you like to work with a well established and forever-growing civil engineering contractor? Are you a Senior Quantity Surveyor looking for their next long term, freelance role? If so, read on! My client, a market-leading principal contractor who specialise in the civil and railway engineering are looking for a strong Senior Quantity Surveyor with 10+ years' experience to join their team and work closely with the Commercial Manager to manage a multimillion-pound scheme in Manchester. The ideal candidate will be keen to progress and develop their skills with some industry professionals who have worked in the Railway and Civils sector for a long time. You will be able to work from home a few days a week for this role. The ideal candidate will be able to start on a 1 week-notice.

Location: Manchester and Hybrid-Working

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for initiating and leading tasks/processes
  • Pricing up and management of utility packages and new resource across the site offices
  • Be responsible for planning and managing own work, and that of other commercial team members
  • Ensure that the contractor's commercial position is protected using in-depth understanding of contractual, commercial, insurance and legal processes
  • Liaise with the client, PQS and Senior staff
  • Manage and provide development/support to other commercial team members
  • Reporting to the Commercial Manager
  • Estimate from first principal
  • Move into a Commercial Management role and manage a team of QS

Candidate Requirements:

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or similar / Equivalent HND (not necessary)
  • Experience working on Network Rail projects
  • Working knowledge of NEC
  • Have a very good work ethic and be willing to work hard

Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
