We are seeking a skilled and proactive Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a Facilities Management team. In this role, you will be the frontline technical expert ensuring the operational excellence of iconic department stores across the West Midlands. You will be responsible for a mixture of planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs, and minor installations. This isn’t just about fixing wires; it’s about ensuring our partners (employees) can work safely and our customers enjoy a seamless shopping experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Electrical Compliance: Execute PPM schedules including emergency lighting tests, fire alarm checks, and distribution board inspections to NICEIC standards.
- Reactive Maintenance: Respond swiftly to electrical failures, power outages, and equipment breakdowns to minimize commercial downtime.
- System Knowledge: Maintain and troubleshoot building management systems (BMS), HVAC controls, lighting arrays, and power distribution.
- Contractor Oversight: Supervise specialized third-party contractors during major plant repairs or upgrades.
- Health & Safety: Maintain rigorous safety standards, conducting risk assessments and ensuring all work complies with IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
The Candidate
- Retail Savvy: You understand that "the show must go on." You are comfortable working in live retail environments, maintaining a professional and discreet presence.
- Geographically Flexible: Based in the West Midlands (e.g., Leicester & Solihull), you are happy to travel between sites.
- Problem Solver: You have a "first-fix" mentality and the diagnostic skills to handle complex electrical faults independently.
Qualifications: Fully electrically qualified to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, 18th edition, Experience working within retail environment, Full UK Driving License.
