We are recruiting a hands-on Site Engineer to join a leading renewables and infrastructure contractor on a commercial solar farm scheme near Exeter. This is an immediate start opportunity for a setting-out engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable taking active charge of daily site management.
The Role
- Setting Out: Executing precise dimensional control for pile foundations, array frames, inverter stations, perimeter fencing, and internal access tracks.
- Subcontractor Management: Managing small specialist subcontractors on site, keeping teams organized, and driving daily production targets.
- Quality Assurance: Managing quality control on the ground, carrying out as-built surveys, and ensuring installations meet project specifications.
- Site Supervision: Keeping detailed daily site diaries, tracking progress against lookahead schedules, and resolving technical site queries quickly.
- HSEQ Compliance: Enforcing strict site safety standards, carrying out site inductions, and ensuring compliance with RAMS.
Essential Requirements
- Renewable / Groundworks Experience: Proven track record as a Site Engineer on solar farm schemes, heavy groundworks, or land development projects.
- Setting-Out Precision: Highly proficient in using modern robotic total stations and GPS surveying equipment.
- Subcontractor Oversight: Demonstrated experience managing small sub-contractors and direct labor teams on site.
- Site Credentials: Valid CSCS card and SMSTS or SSSTS.
- Availability: Immediately available to start on site in Exeter with a full UK driving licence.
Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
