The Opportunity
We are seeking a passionate and driven Engine Test Technician to join a world-leading industrial power systems facility in Peterborough. Working within the Global Engine Development (GED) team, you will be instrumental in the development, validation, and certification of new engine products, ranging from 0.5L to 18L, which power over 5,000 global applications including marine, petroleum, and locomotives.
What You Will Do
- Test Bed Operations (85%): Perform safe and defect-free installations of engines into test cells, connecting measurement equipment to ensure high-quality data collection.
- Technical Investigations: Assist engineers in conducting investigations into future products, components, materials, and processes.
- Diagnostics & Maintenance: Diagnose and fix faults on both engines and test cell equipment while maintaining a clean work area in line with 5S and TPM standards.
- Continuous Improvement (15%): Support value stream improvement projects and undertake ongoing technical training.
Required Skills & Experience
- Technical Foundation: An engineering or motor mechanics apprenticeship is highly desirable.
- Industry Experience: Previous experience in motor vehicle maintenance or engine testing is preferred.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Proficiency with hand/power tools and lifting equipment, alongside a basic understanding of instrumentation.
- Operational Excellence: Strong attention to detail to ensure mistake-free results and a positive attitude toward change.
- Compliance: Full eligibility to work in the UK for the entire 12-month duration is required.
Shift Pattern (24/7 Rotation)
This role operates on a continuous 24/7 shift pattern. The cycle covers 28 days, during which you will work 14 days and have 14 days off (including a block of 8 consecutive days off). Please ensure you are fully comfortable with this requirement before applying.
