We are looking for an experienced telehandler driver to start on an ongoing commercial construction project in Appleby. This is a long-term contract offering steady hours on a busy commercial build. You will oversee site movement and material management, working closely with the Site Manager and principal contractors to keep daily operations running smoothly, safely, and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operating a telescopic handler safely and efficiently on a commercial construction site.
- Receiving, unloading, and staging incoming commercial deliveries (structural steel, concrete components, cladding, insulation, specialist systems).
- Transporting materials to precise locations on site to support various sub-contractors and specialist trades.
- Performing mandatory daily plant pre-checks, logging maintenance checks, and keeping the machine in clean, safe working order.
- Strictly following site safety protocols, including load capacity limits, banksman instructions, and pedestrian exclusion zones.
- Stepping off the machine when required to assist with general site tidying and maintaining a safe, organised working environment.
Requirements:
- Valid CPCS or NPORS Card with Telescopic Handler category (Essential).
- Proven experience operating telehandlers on commercial construction or civil sites.
- Full PPE (Hard hat, high-vis jacket/vest, steel toe cap boots).
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Solid understanding of commercial site health and safety standards.
- Strong communication skills, punctuality, and a proactive, professional attitude.
- Located in or easily commutable to Appleby-in-Westmorland.
