About the Role
Leicestershire County Council is seeking an experienced and dedicated Supervising Social Worker to join their Kinship Support Team based at Groby Road, Glenfield. This is a crucial, short-term role required to cover a staff sickness for a maximum of 6 months. Because we need to ensure continuity of care and support for our kinship carers and children, we are looking for a professional who can hit the ground running and start immediately.
Key Responsibilities
- Carer Support & Supervision: Provide robust supervision, guidance, and emotional support to connected persons and kinship carers.
- Placement Stability: Assess the needs of kinship families, identifying and implementing support packages to ensure long-term placement stability.
- Compliance & Regulations: Ensure all kinship placements adhere to relevant fostering regulations, national minimum standards, and local authority policies.
- Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work closely with child care social workers, schools, health professionals, and support groups to advocate for the needs of the kinship family.
Candidate Requirements
- Specific Experience: Proven, strong experience working directly within a Local Authority Kinship Support Team as a supervising social worker.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of the specific challenges, legal frameworks, and emotional dynamics surrounding connected persons and kinship care.
- Compliance: Active Social Work England registration and an enhanced DBS check.
- Availability: Must be available to start immediately and commit to a contract of up to 6 months.
