Nottingham City Council is seeking a highly motivated Social Worker to join our Children in Care Team. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a diverse and complex caseload of children and young people in care.
- Undertake comprehensive assessments of needs, risks, and strengths, informing robust care plans.
- Undertake direct work with children and young people, ensuring their voices are heard and acted upon.
- Develop, implement, and review child-centred care plans, ensuring permanency and stability.
- Collaborate effectively with foster carers, residential providers, schools, health services, and other partner agencies.
- Prepare high-quality reports for Looked After Reviews, court proceedings, and other statutory meetings.
- Participate in legal proceedings, presenting evidence and advocating for children's best interests.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive case records in line with statutory requirements and local policies.
- Adhere to all safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring the welfare of children is paramount.
What We Are Looking For:
- A qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England.
- Minimum 3 years post-qualifying experience in children's social work, specifically within a Children in Care or Looked After Children's team.
- Demonstrable knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, and policies pertaining to children in care (e.g., Children Act 1989/2004, Care Planning, Placement and Case Review (England) Regulations).
- Proven ability to undertake complex assessments, formulate plans, and manage risk effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, and professionals.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage a demanding caseload and meet statutory deadlines.
- A commitment to promoting the rights and welfare of children and young people.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
