Job Description
Do you have the professional resilience and expertise to shape the lives of vulnerable young people? We are partnering with a specialist care provider in Dumfries dedicated to creating safe, nurturing environments for children facing complex social and emotional challenges. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced practitioner to join a service that values high-standard care as much as it values its staff.
The Best Bit? A Rota Designed for Excellence. Utilising a structured "2 days on, 4 days off" shift pattern, this role provides the consistency needed to deliver high-quality therapeutic care while ensuring you have significant time away to recharge. With a competitive salary and additional earnings from sleep-ins, your total annual package will exceed £34,000.
What's in it for you?
- Competitive Reward: Base salary up to £26,032.50, plus £67.50 per sleep-in (averaging 10 per month, adding £8,000+ per year).
- Joining Incentives: A £500 welcome bonus and access to a £1,000 "Refer a Friend" scheme.
- Work-Life Balance: A fixed, full-time rotation of 2 days on followed by 4 days off.
- Professional Growth: Access to specialist industry-standard training and clear pathways for senior career development.
- Comprehensive Perks: Exclusive high-street retailer discounts and 24/7 access to hardship grants and support helplines.
Your Role and Responsibilities
- Expert Care Delivery: Provide high-standard, 24-hour support to young people in a specialist three-bed home, ensuring a stable and warm environment.
- Clinical and Emotional Support: Act as a positive role model and patient listener for service users dealing with early-life trauma and emotional behavioural difficulties (EBD).
- Foster Independence: Guide young people through daily routines, educational attendance, and community activities to prepare them for their next life stages.
- Digital Oversight: Confidently manage and update electronic care recording systems to ensure meticulous welfare monitoring and reporting.
- Collaborative Leadership: Work alongside a dedicated team to maintain a safe space for expression, maintaining clear professional boundaries at all times.
What we need from you
- Proven Experience: A strong background in residential childcare or working with young people with complex needs is essential.
- Character: You are a patient, warm, and proactive professional focused on achieving positive outcomes for those in your care.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with digital reporting platforms and a high standard of written communication.
- Compliance: Successful candidates must be registered (or willing to register) with the PVG scheme and provide a comprehensive reference history.
