Job Description

Job Title: Residential Support Worker

Location: Preston, Lancashire

Salary: Β£28,080.00 to Β£31,012.00 per annum, depending on experience

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: 42 hours per week on a rota basis

Overview:

  • A leading provider of specialist care and education is expanding and set to open a brand-new children's home. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to be part of a team from the very beginning, helping to shape the home's ethos and culture to the highest standards under new leadership. We are seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to help make this house a home for the children and young people we support.
  • The home is part of a specialist service for children and young people aged 8 to 19 with a diagnosis of Autism and associated conditions. Set in over 20 acres of beautiful countryside, our teams have the chance to build an amazing, nurturing landscape for the children in our care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As a Residential Support Worker, you will have a vital role in helping children and young people to learn and develop skills for life. Your main duties will include:
  • Maintaining a high quality of care and support that meets the physical, emotional, social, and cultural needs of the children and young people.
  • Providing a caring, supportive, and nurturing environment where children can feel secure and free from harm.
  • Acting as a key worker for a young person, ensuring their care plan is followed, kept up-to-date, and reflects their changing needs.
  • Establishing positive, warm, and rewarding relationships with the young people, acting as a positive role model.
  • Attending to practical matters related to childcare, such as cooking, cleaning, and general maintenance around the home.
  • Supporting young people in their education and encouraging them to develop links with the community and expand their social networks.

About You:

  • You don't need special qualifications for this role, but you must share our passion to help children be the very best they can be. The ideal candidate will be:
  • Essential: A holder of a full UK Driving License.
  • Willing to work towards a fully funded Level 3 Diploma in Children's Social Care if not already achieved.
  • Able to work punctually and reliably on a varied shift pattern, including early and late shifts, weekends, and sleep-in duties.
  • An excellent role model who can conduct themselves professionally.
  • Experienced in delivering good quality care. Previous experience working with children with autism is desirable.
  • Knowledgeable about child protection procedures and relevant care standards.
