About the Role:

As a Registered Support Worker, your primary responsibility will be to deliver compassionate and effective behavioural management services to the children and young people residing in the Children\’s Home. This involves actively participating in the daily operations of the home to effectively address both the individual and collective needs of the young people utilising this resource.

A key commitment of our client is the effective management of their residential establishments. This involves fostering an environment that successfully balances the provision of care with necessary containment. To achieve this, it is essential that all staff work consistently to deliver care and maintain strong partnership working at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

Partnership and Planning

  • Develop and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with young people.
  • Ensure service delivery within the Home is effective, reflecting individual child care plans, and aligning with Department of Health, Home Office, and Company policies/procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records to support all aspects of service provision.

Development and Well-being

  • Proactively equip young people with emotional, social, and practical skills through a behavioural management framework to prepare them for education and employment.
  • Foster an ethos that respects and accounts for a young person\\\’s race, culture, disability, gender, and sexuality.
  • Creative engagement and encouragement of young people to participate in a variety of activities (play, leisure, learning, social development) to build confidence and develop skills.
  • Support young people in domestic and personal care tasks within the Home in a manner that promotes their well-being and development.

Key-Working and Administration

  • Act as a key-worker for designated young people, completing all required monthly key-work duties and any additional related tasks.
  • Maintain accurate and appropriate records related to all aspects of the Home\\\’s organisation.

Education and Achievement

  • Liaise and cooperate with teaching staff to ensure each young person receives an education appropriate to their ability.
  • Support young people in school or alternative education programmes to ensure they fully utilise available educational opportunities.
  • Promote and assist young people in achieving relevant qualifications, such as NVQ/GCSE.

Communication and Compliance

  • Maintain effective communication systems, including thorough handovers and log books.
  • Actively participate in the implementation, promotion, and development of all relevant Company policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to staff meetings, staff development sessions, child care reviews, and other meetings as necessary.
  • Take part in implementing action plans to meet the company\\\’s positive action targets and ensure anti-discriminatory practices are consistently adhered to and developed.

  • Proven experience working directly with young people facing emotional and behavioural difficulties.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal (at meetings) and written (reports and accurate record-keeping).
  • Strong organisational abilities and a methodical approach to following established procedures.
  • Demonstrated capacity for effective team collaboration.
  • Ability to work constructively with children, families, other professionals, and external agencies.
  • A responsive and proactive approach to meeting the needs of young people.
  • The resilience to maintain performance and effectiveness when working under pressure.
  • A commitment to working towards agreed objectives.
  • Willingness and physical capacity to participate fully in restraint techniques.
