Randstad is currently seeking dedicated Residential Childcare Workers to join our team, supporting various children's residential homes across Tyne and Wear (including Newcastle, Gateshead, and Sunderland). If you are an experienced support worker with a background in caring for children who have experienced trauma, we want to hear from you!

In this role, you will be providing essential emotional and practical support to children and young people who may have faced significant challenges and trauma. Working across our diverse Tyne and Wear services, your goal is to create a safe, nurturing, and stable environment where young people can truly thrive.

  • Competitive Pay: £15.00 - £20.00 per hour (depending on experience and shift type)

  • Days with Sleep-ins: Providing continuity of care through the evening and night
  • Waking Nights: For the night owls who excel at providing a calm, safe presence during the late hours

Your Day-to-Day Impact

  • Building positive, trusting relationships with vulnerable young people.
  • Assisting with daily routines, including education, hobbies, and life skills.
  • Managing challenging behaviors with empathy and de-escalation techniques.
  • Ensuring the highest standards of safeguarding and care are met at all times.
  • Maintaining accurate daily logs and reports.

What You'll Bring to the Team

  • Experience: Previous experience in a residential childcare or a similar support setting is essential.
  • Resilience: An empathetic nature with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to engage with both children and professional teams.
  • Compliance: You must be willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check (or have one on the update service) and provide full employment references.
