About the Role
Are you a highly skilled Social Worker looking to influence practice without the pressure of a dedicated caseload? Newcastle Council is seeking a motivated Advanced Practitioner to join our Children in Care Reunification Team. This is a non-caseholding role focused on practice development, mentoring colleagues, and completing high-quality, specialist reunification assessments to ensure children can safely return to their families or transition out of care orders.
Key Responsibilities
- Specialist Assessments: Complete and oversee complex assessments, including Parenting, Placement with Parents, Capacity to Protect, Sibling Attachment, and Special Guardianship assessments.
- Court Work: Assist with the preparation of court work and the discharge of care orders, including writing high-quality reports and giving evidence in court when required.
- Mentoring & Leadership: Act as a mentor to social workers, helping build their confidence, skills, and consistency in assessment work and risk management.
- Strategic Impact: Play a key role in shaping evidence-based practice, service development, and strategic planning within the team.
Requirements
- Qualifications: Degree in Social Work and active Social Work England (SWE) registration.
- Experience: Extensive background in complex assessments, care proceedings, and court work within Children's Services.
- Skills: Strong risk management abilities, excellent communication, and proven mentoring or leadership experience.
