About the Role
Gateshead Council is seeking a resilient and experienced Caseholding Social Worker to join our Long-Term Children's Services team. This role is designed for a dedicated practitioner who excels at building lasting, trusting relationships with children and families to drive meaningful and sustainable change.
You will manage a dedicated caseload, taking responsibility for children requiring long-term intervention, supporting them from initial planning right through the court process when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Case Management: Hold and manage a complex caseload involving long-term Child in Need (CiN) and Child Protection (CP) plans.
- Court Work & Proceedings: Lead on care proceedings, including writing comprehensive court reports, preparing care plans, and giving evidence in both family and high court settings.
- Care Planning: Develop, implement, and review robust, child-centered care plans aimed at safeguarding children and improving their long-term life outcomes.
- Relationship-Based Practice: Work intensively with families in crisis, utilizing a trauma-informed and strengths-based approach to facilitate positive change.
Requirements
- Qualifications: Degree in Social Work and an active Social Work England (SWE) registration.
- Experience: Substantial post-qualifying experience within a long-term Child Protection, Family Support, or Court team.
- Skills: Strong proficiency in court report writing, care proceedings, and risk analysis. Excellent organizational skills to manage a demanding caseholding role.
