The Vale of Glamorgan Council is looking for a skilled and committed Social Worker to join their vital Family Support Team on a permanent basis. About the Role

As a Social Worker in the Family Support Team, you will play a crucial role in providing support and interventions to families to prevent escalation of concerns and promote positive change. You will manage a diverse caseload of children and families, building strong relationships and implementing child-centred plans.

  • Undertaking comprehensive assessments of children and families' needs through direct work and engagement.
  • Developing, implementing, and reviewing robust child-centred plans in collaboration with families and other professionals.
  • Providing practical and emotional support to families facing various challenges (e.g., parenting difficulties, domestic issues, financial hardship), aiming to build their capacity and resilience.
  • Working with children and families on long-term plans to address complex needs and minimise risks.
  • Collaborating effectively with multi-agency partners, including schools, health services, and community groups, to ensure holistic and integrated support.
  • Preparing accurate and timely reports for case conferences, reviews, and court proceedings where necessary.
  • Contributing to an innovative team culture that embraces strength-based approaches.

What We're Looking For

  • A Social Work Degree or equivalent relevant degree.
  • At least 2 years of post-qualifying experience working directly with children and families in the UK, ideally within a family support or similar statutory children's social work setting.
  • Registered with Social Care Wales.
  • An up-to-date Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service).
