Randstad is currently seeking dedicated Residential Childcare Workers to join our team, supporting various children's residential homes across Darlington. If you are a support worker with experience in caring for children who have experienced trauma, we want to hear from you!

The Role

In this role, you will be providing essential emotional and practical support to children and young people who may have faced significant challenges and trauma. Your goal is to create a safe, nurturing, and stable environment where they can thrive.

Competitive Pay: £13.00 - £15.00 per hour (depending on experience and shift type).

Location: Darlington and surrounding areas.

Available Shift Patterns

  • Long Days: Ideal for those who prefer to complete their hours in fewer blocks.
  • Days with Sleep-ins: Providing continuity of care through the evening and night.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Building positive, trusting relationships with vulnerable young people.
  • Assisting with daily routines, including education, hobbies, and life skills.
  • Managing challenging behaviours with empathy and de-escalation techniques.
  • Ensuring the highest standards of safeguarding and care are met at all times.
  • Maintaining accurate daily logs and reports.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience: Previous experience in a residential childcare or a similar support setting is essential.
  • Resilience: An empathetic nature with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to engage with both children and professional teams.
  • Compliance: You must be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check (or have one on the update service) and provide full employment references.
