The Role

As a Social Worker in their Locality Team, you will provide high-quality, strengths-based assessments that maximise an adult's involvement and choice. Your day-to-day will involve:

  • Assessment & Eligibility: Identifying levels of need under the Care Act 2014 across various settings (community, hospital, and residential).
  • Specialist Practice: Undertaking Mental Capacity, Best Interest, and Risk Assessments in line with the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
  • Caseload Management: Managing an active caseload that matches your skill level and professional development goals.
  • Advocacy & Support: Supporting the use of Direct Payments and Self-Directed Support to give residents true control over their care.
  • Collaboration: Working alongside partners in health and housing, chairing safeguarding meetings, and preparing reports for the Court of Protection.

What You Need to Be Successful

We are looking for resilient, analytical, and empathetic professionals who meet the following:

  • Qualified: A Social Work qualification (MA/BA, Dip SW, CQSW, or CSS) or currently in your final year of study.
  • Registered: Current registration with Social Work England (or eligibility to register/return to practice).
  • Legislative Expertise: A solid understanding of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act, and Safeguarding principles.
  • Strengths-Based Approach: Ability to apply social work theory to person-centred practice.

The Experience

  • Proven experience working with adults (and carers) living with physical disabilities, mental health needs, or learning disabilities.
  • A track record of managing risk and participating in the safeguarding process.
  • Experience in evidence-based decision-making and workload prioritisation.

  • Communication: Ability to build rapport with a diverse range of people and professionals.
  • Digital Literacy: Strong IT skills for maintaining accurate records in line with GDPR.
