The Opportunity Randstad Care is proud to partner with a leading Specialist Children's Care Provider in the North East. We are seeking a motivated Senior Support Worker (or an experienced Support Worker looking to step up) for a high-quality residential home near Stanley, County Durham. Our client is renowned for their "child-first" approach, focusing on trauma-informed care and providing stable, nurturing environments for young people with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership: Oversee the daily running of the home during your shift, ensuring high standards of care and compliance.
  • Mentorship: Support and guide junior staff members, acting as a point of escalation and a role model.
  • Direct Care: Provide emotional and practical support to children and young people, helping them achieve their personal goals.
  • Documentation: Ensure all care plans, risk assessments, and daily logs are maintained to an Ofsted-ready standard.

Shift Pattern: Varied Long Days & Sleeps. This role offers a balanced rota of varied long days and sleep-in shifts to ensure continuity for the young people: Day Shifts: 08:00 - 20:00 or 10:00 - 22:00. Sleep-ins: Typically a long day (10am-11pm) followed by an on-site sleep, with a short morning shift (7am-11am) the following day. Note: All sleep-in shifts attract a competitive flat-rate allowance in addition to your hourly pay.

Requirements

  • Qualifications: You must hold or be actively working towards your Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
  • Experience: Essential experience working within a children's residential setting.
  • Ambition: We welcome "Step-Up" candidates who have the skills but haven't yet held a formal "Senior" title.
  • Compliance: Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to process one) and a full 5-year checkable work history.
