Oldham Council are seeking dedicated Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMHPs) to join their Community Mental Health Team on a permanent, full time basis.
As part of a supportive and collaborative local authority, you\’ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality mental health services across the borough. You\’ll be working alongside experienced social workers, mental health professionals, and our wider Adult Social Care team.
Salary: 41,511 – 45,718

Responsibilities:
-
Provide a responsive and effective AMHP service under the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended)
-
Undertake MHA assessments, ensuring they are completed in line with legal requirements and best practice
-
Support individuals through holistic assessments under the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005
-
Manage a complex caseload, balancing urgent statutory duties with longer-term support planning
-
Work closely with multi-agency partners including health, police, housing and voluntary services
Experience
-
Qualified and practising AMHP, registered with Social Work England
-
Proven experience in a similar statutory adult mental health setting (ideally 2+ years)
-
Strong understanding of the Mental Health Act, Care Act, and Mental Capacity Act
A commitment to strengths-based, person-centred practice -
Excellent communication and decision-making skills
