Short-Term Placement: Montrose | Permanent Transition: Glasgow

Specialized Residential & Secure Care Units | Block Shift Rota Pattern

We are seeking experienced Residential Childcare Practitioners currently based in Glasgow and the Central Belt for a high-value, fixed-term placement supporting a specialized care service in the Montrose area, transitioning to a potential long-term position within the Greater Glasgow region.

This arrangement is structured for practitioners looking to maximize short-term earnings via compressed block shifts while securing a permanent home placement back in Glasgow.

Remuneration & Contract Overview

  • Hourly Base Rate:£14.36 - £18.46 per hour (Equivalent to £28,000 - £36,000 per annum base FTE, dependent on experience)

  • Accommodation Support: Fully funded or heavily subsidized local accommodation provided during on-duty blocks in Montrose

  • Travel & Transport Allowance: Direct travel expense coverage (mileage reimbursement or rail fare allowance between Glasgow and Montrose)

  • Schedule Structure: Intensive block shift rotas (e.g., 2 days on / 4 days off or similar compressed patterns) to minimize travel frequency during the Montrose deployment period
  • Placement Length: Initial short-term placement in Montrose, with a structured pathway moving your core operational base back down to Glasgow

Key Requirements

  • SVQ Level 3 or HNC in Social Services (Children & Young People) or SSSC-recognised equivalent

  • Active or eligible registration with the SSSC

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in residential, secure, or high-support therapeutic environments

  • Resilience, strong de-escalation skills, and a clear understanding of trauma-informed practice
