The Opportunity
We are seeking a driven and commercially-minded Project Manager to lead the day-to-day delivery of the Birmingham Eastside Metro extension. This landmark 1.7km route will connect Bull Street to High Street Deritend, serving the new HS2 station at Curzon Street.
As the Project Manager, you will work within an Alliance environment to ensure this high-profile infrastructure project is delivered safely, on time, and under budget. You will lead multi-disciplinary teams, manage complex resource planning, and maintain seamless coordination to minimize disruption to existing city operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership: Direct a multi-disciplinary construction and rail team, fostering a "Best for Project" collaborative environment.
- Project Planning: Create detailed delivery plans, agreeing on timescales, costs, and resources for every project stage.
- Delivery: Oversee multiple project sections simultaneously, ensuring all work meets high quality and safety standards.
- Financial Oversight: Manage budgets and commercial aspects to guarantee profitability and value for money.
- Stakeholder Management: Provide regular progress reports to the Project Director and external stakeholders, resolving issues or delays with a calm, personable approach.
Person Specification
- Experience: Proven track record in project delivery within a Civils or Rail environment.
- Team Management: Extensive experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and managing junior project managers.
- Safety Leadership: Experience delivering projects within an effective safety culture in high-risk environments.
- Qualifications: Relevant Degree. Recognised Project Management qualification (e.g., APM, PRINCE2). Membership (or working towards) of the Association for Project Management (APM).
