We believe that our strength is not just in our steel but the diversity of our workforce. Our people make the difference. Are you someone who enjoys leading major engineering projects, bringing people together, and seeing ideas turn into fully delivered, working solutions? If you’re motivated by improving processes, delivering impactful site developments, and guiding talented engineers, this could be the ideal next step in your career.

We’re looking for an Engineering Project Manager to support the Colors Shotton business by leading key development projects from concept through to commissioning and handover. You’ll also guide a small team of Project Engineers and work closely with stakeholders across the site.

What you will do

  • You’ll play a key role in shaping the future of our site by managing projects that enhance equipment, improve manufacturing performance, and bring new capabilities to life.
  • From the very start of each project, you’ll build and manage stakeholder groups, define the project charter and follow a structured stage-gate process to keep everything aligned.
  • Your work will involve developing detailed project plans, engineering specifications and governance structures, as well as overseeing design, procurement, installation and commissioning activities.
  • You’ll be responsible for ensuring all project work meets relevant engineering standards, safety requirements and regulatory expectations, and you’ll coordinate risk assessments, Management of Change documentation, CDM considerations and HAZOP studies.
  • Alongside this, you’ll lead and support a team that includes Project Engineers, Design Engineers and contractors, ensuring safe and effective delivery.
  • You’ll work closely with Manufacturing Teams and plant engineers to provide technical guidance, keep up to date with new engineering technologies, manage project costs and budgets, and liaise with suppliers, procurement, finance, safety teams and wider Tata engineering functions.

What you will need

  • You’ll bring a strong grounding in engineering, from either a Mechanical or Electrical background, combined with experience leading engineering projects and an Engineering degree.
  • You should be comfortable managing all stages of a project lifecycle, working with multidisciplinary teams, and keeping multiple moving parts aligned and on track.
  • To succeed, you’ll need confident communication and stakeholder-management skills, along with a good understanding of safety legislation, risk assessment techniques, and the principles behind safe project delivery.
  • Experience with budgeting and cost control is important, as is the ability to problem-solve, analyse information and make well-reasoned decisions.
  • Professional registration such as Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status is beneficial, and project management qualifications like PRINCE2 are useful but not essential.
  • What matters most is your ability to lead, influence, collaborate and guide projects to a successful outcome.

If you’re excited by the idea of delivering major engineering projects, developing others and shaping future site improvements, we’d love to hear from you.
