We are seeking a high-caliber NPI Lead Manufacturing Engineer to spearhead manufacturing readiness for a large global manufacturer at their premier engine facility in Peterborough. This isn’t just about keeping the wheels turning; it’s about driving the future of off-highway power systems from initial concept through to full-scale production. Location: Fully on-site in Peterborough, UK (with 5% travel required)
Contract Duration: 12 Months
Rate: £24.50 - £26.50 per hour
Schedule: Monday to Thursday (7:00 am - 4:00 pm) and Friday (7:00 am - 11:00 am), offering excellent weekend head-starts
In this pivotal role, you will lead the manufacturing engineering deliverables across all NPI gateways. You are the bridge between design and reality, ensuring that every new engine program is supported by robust processes, validated equipment, and flawless quality compliance.
Key Responsibilities Include:- Owning readiness reviews and securing ME sign-off at every milestone.
- Delivering PFMEAs, control plans, standard work, and process designs that integrate seamlessly with existing facility operations.
- Managing the full lifecycle of tooling and equipment—from initial specification to final commissioning.
- Leading prototype and pilot build phases, capturing defects, and ensuring resolution before production begins.
- Supporting PPAP, capability studies (MSA), and statistical validation protocols.
The ideal candidate: We need a leader with a boots-on-the-ground mentality combined with high-level program management skills.
- Proven track record in NPI, program delivery, or launch engineering within the automotive or precision manufacturing sectors.
- Deep understanding of engine assembly, machining, or similar complex manufacturing processes.
- Expertise in PFMEA, control plans, and risk management.
- Ability to manage suppliers and collaborate effectively with Product Engineering on Design for Manufacturing.
You will be at the heart of an industry-leading facility, overseeing the transition of next-generation diesel engines into the construction and off-highway markets.
