Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer with some Electrical Engineering bias? The opportunity to join a safety conscious, time-honoured Engineering team within Tata Steels Lisburn works has arisen. The successful applicant will have strong Mechanical Engineering experience within a heavy or manufacturing industry. Knowledge and experience within Electrical engineering would be a significant advantage.
Tata Steels Lisburn works provides a wide range of decoiled, slitted and flat steel products. Significant investment will be made into the works within the next two years, making it an exciting time for an Engineer to join.
Location: Tata Steel, Lissue Walk, Lisburn BT28 2SN
Rate: Competitive and based upon experience. Quarterly bonus, Overtime (OT 1.5) and callout payments also available.
Shift Patterns: Lisburn runs a 24 hour operation. Opportunity for a 3 shift rotation (days, nights and afternoons) or days only.
Start: ASAP but pending the successful completion of a medical assessment, which includes a Drug and Alcohol test.
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring decoiling, slitting and shearing machinery is maintained to the highest mechanical standards.
- Supporting with electrical maintenance and repair on machinery.
- Performing necessary reactive breakdown repairs to minimise disruption to production.
- Assisting in root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
- Leading preventative maintenance activities.
- Reporting and recording maintenance and repair details using relevant IT and maintenance management systems.
- Facilitating engineering solutions for process improvement to ensure efficiency and productivity targets are met.
- Supporting the development and implementation of processes complying with Tata Steel H&S Management System.
- Accountability for individual Health and Safety and the H&S of others within a SSOW.
- Maintaining clear and concise records to track trends and identify improvements.
Essential requirements:
- NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant electrical trade or a recognized apprenticeship (highly desired).
- 2+ years experience as a Mechanical/Electrical Engineer within a Manufacturing and/or Heavy Industry.
- Driving licence and access to own vehicle (due to callouts and 24 hour operation).
- Strong Mechanical Engineering knowledge especially in relation to PPM.
- Evidence of PPM implementation, delivery and control.
- Good knowledge of Electrical Engineering, mainly in relation to AC/DC motors, Gearboxes and fault finding.
- Excellent UK Health and Safety knowledge and experience.
