Our staff are at the heart of everything we do and achieve. We are currently looking to add two Scientists on to our External Quality Assessment team.
What does this team do? Randox's Quality Assessment Scheme (RIQAS) is a global external quality assessment (EQA) program designed to help clinical laboratories monitor and improve the accuracy and reliability of their diagnostic testing. Specifically, RIQAS provides:
- External quality assessment programs across a wide range of clinical disciplines such as clinical chemistry, haematology, immunoassay, coagulation, blood gas, urinalysis, and therapeutic drug monitoring.
- Regular performance monitoring through bi-weekly or monthly reports comparing a lab's results to those of other labs using similar methods and instruments.
- High-quality, ready-to-use liquid samples that mimic real human samples to ensure the assessments are relevant and reliable.
- An easy-to-use online portal where labs can submit their results, access reports, and track their performance over time.
- Accreditation to ISO/IEC 17043, ensuring the program meets international standards for proficiency testing.
Location: Randox Science Park (30 Randalstown Road, Antrim, BT41 4LF).
Contract Offered: Full-time, permanent
Working Hours / Shifts: 40 hours per week, 8.00am - 5.40pm Monday - Thursday, 8.30am-12.30pm Friday.
What does this role involve? RIQAS Scientists are responsible for troubleshooting of both internal and external technical queries. The analysis of data and the preparation of special reports to assist in solving technical queries. The validation of participant reports prior to despatch. Performance surveillance of UK based participants in conjunction with the National Quality Assurance Advisory Panel (NQAAP). The design and planning of RIQAS programme (existing and new). They are also involved in development and maintenance of RIQAS software and participation in audit external audits. RIQAS Scientist will provide technical advice with respect to RIQAS, as well as information and assistance in the promotion of RIQAS. Assist in training of other staff members within the team along with other Randox representatives and distributors.
Essential criteria:
- Be qualified to at least degree standard in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Immunology or a Life Science degree.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Computer literate (working with data)
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Strong numerical skills for a wide range of scientific calculations.
- Eligibility to work within the UK.
Desirable:
- Previous experience with proficiency testing schemes or clinical diagnostics.
- Understanding of proficiency testing software and statistics.
- Excellent presentation skills.
