Our staff are at the heart of everything we do and achieve. We have a new opportunity for a Chemical Advisor within our Health and Safety team based in Crumlin, NI. What does this team do? This team ensures a safe working environment for employees and protects our staff by implementing and maintaining safety protocols and procedures. This includes developing and enforcing policies, conducting risk assessments, investigating incidents, and providing training on health and safety practices. Location: 55 Diamond Road, Crumlin, BT29 4QY. Contract Offered: Full-time, Permanent Working Hours: 40 hours per week. Monday to Friday. What does this role involve? The role of Chemical and Biological Safety Advisor will work within the Health and Safety Department, covering general Health and Safety functions such as managing legal compliance, providing advice and support to key stakeholders, advising management on safe working practices, ensuring the company meets statutory and best practice requirements, but also specifically in relation to biological pathogens and dangerous goods. Complete COSHH assessments and training to drive H&S compliance. Assisting with coordination of the company\’s compliance under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003: Including chemical, biological agents, the Genetically Modified Organisms (Contained Use) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2015, and with other legislation applicable to bio safety and chemical safety. Assist and support department managers to develop Work Instructions, Procedures, Risk Conduct H&S inspections and audits in line with company policy. Identify corrective and preventative actions and communicate audit recommendations to all interested parties. Maintain and update relevant H&S documentation for the company to demonstrate ongoing compliance to H&S Regulators, Auditors, Insurers and other Enforcement Agencies. Support the development and implementation of H&S Policies across the company. Updating the company H&S legal register while maintaining a working knowledge of applicable legislation. Liaise with external Health and Safety Authorities as requested by the H&S Manager Who can apply? Essential criteria: Educated to Degree Level – at 2:1 in Chemistry or related discipline. Or 3 years experience in a similar role. Have an IOSH/ NEBOSH qualification or be willing to work towards. Excellent Communication Skills Strong computer Skills – Word, Excel, Powerpoint Eligibility to work within the UK. Desirable: Previous experience with Bio-Safety. Experience of CoSHH and conducting Risk Assessments. Experience in giving Oral Presentations. Experience in writing Material Safety Data sheets to meet the current regulations. How do I apply?
