We are seeking a Junior Live-in Housekeeper to join a warm and welcoming private family household based in Bideford, Devon. This is an excellent opportunity for someone from a hospitality or hotel background who is looking to transition into private households. The family are seeking a hardworking, reliable and proactive individual with strong initiative who can quickly adapt, take ownership of tasks, and get to know the household.

The household includes an 11-year-old daughter, and it is especially important that the successful candidate is naturally warm, patient, and confident interacting with children in a caring and supportive way.

Schedule: 32 hours per week to be worked between 08:00–20:00 Monday to Friday in accordance with the family's needs/schedules (the candidate will have the chance to enjoy breaks/down time within this window when not on duty) + Saturday mornings (09:00–11:00)

Duties:

  • Daily housekeeping and cleaning to a high standard
  • Laundry and ironing
  • Family cooking and assisting with meal preparation
  • Grocery shopping and household provisioning
  • Preparing the home ahead of family arrival (including summer periods)
  • Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the household
  • Child-friendly interaction and occasional support with the daughter
  • General household organisation and upkeep as required

The ideal candidate will be kind, discreet and dependable, with a positive attitude and strong initiative. Previous experience in hotels, housekeeping or hospitality environments is highly desirable. The ability to work independently, learn the family’s preferences quickly, and take responsibility for the home is essential.

Accommodation: Private 1-bedroom annexe is provided, including large kitchen, bathroom, and large living space with estuary views. Utilities (gas, electricity, water and broadband) are included. The annexe is unfurnished. Single occupancy, one pet welcome.

Start date: To be confirmed

Salary: £14.00 gross per hour (on payroll with employment contract). Unless otherwise specified a minimum of 3 years relevant experience is required to receive the advertised rate of pay.
