Responsibilities include:

  • Reflecting the high standards of the company by keeping the nursing home clean, safe and free from smells.
  • Making efficient use of cleaning materials and equipment.
  • Upholding residents’ participation strategy.
  • Treating colleagues with respect and ensuring good teamwork.
  • Following housekeeping instructions as laid down by the company and as directed by the Manager/Nurse in charge.
  • Upholding residents’ rights to privacy, dignity and choice.
  • Operating tools and equipment in a safe, correct manner and displaying warning signs as appropriate.
  • Reporting any damage to equipment, furnishings or fabric of the building as soon as possible to immediate superior.
  • Becoming familiar with and using appropriate chemicals in correct strengths as instructed in the manual and being economical in use.
  • Keeping furniture and carpets clean and free of odours.
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness to reflect the image of the company.
  • Disposing of waste materials and rubbish as instructed.
  • Reporting any discrepancies in stock control and informing the Manager immediately.
  • Reporting any injuries, disease or dangerous occurrences to the appropriate staff member.
  • Wearing company uniform at all times when on duty.
  • Wearing and using protective clothing and equipment as directed and reporting any damage to superiors.
  • Complying with all safe working policies and procedures.
  • Attending training and staff meetings as requested by the manager.
  • Becoming familiar with fire instructions/evacuation policies and procedures.
  • Becoming familiar with company policy and procedure regarding domestic duties, sick leave and annual leave.
  • Reading any notices displayed in the work area and adhering to them at all times.
  • Undertaking any reasonable duties as directed by the manager/nurse in charge to ensure safe, smooth and efficient running of the nursing home.
