Responsibilities include:
- Reflecting the high standards of the company by keeping the nursing home clean, safe and free from smells.
- Making efficient use of cleaning materials and equipment.
- Upholding residents’ participation strategy.
- Treating colleagues with respect and ensuring good teamwork.
- Following housekeeping instructions as laid down by the company and as directed by the Manager/Nurse in charge.
- Upholding residents’ rights to privacy, dignity and choice.
- Operating tools and equipment in a safe, correct manner and displaying warning signs as appropriate.
- Reporting any damage to equipment, furnishings or fabric of the building as soon as possible to immediate superior.
- Becoming familiar with and using appropriate chemicals in correct strengths as instructed in the manual and being economical in use.
- Keeping furniture and carpets clean and free of odours.
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness to reflect the image of the company.
- Disposing of waste materials and rubbish as instructed.
- Reporting any discrepancies in stock control and informing the Manager immediately.
- Reporting any injuries, disease or dangerous occurrences to the appropriate staff member.
- Wearing company uniform at all times when on duty.
- Wearing and using protective clothing and equipment as directed and reporting any damage to superiors.
- Complying with all safe working policies and procedures.
- Attending training and staff meetings as requested by the manager.
- Becoming familiar with fire instructions/evacuation policies and procedures.
- Becoming familiar with company policy and procedure regarding domestic duties, sick leave and annual leave.
- Reading any notices displayed in the work area and adhering to them at all times.
- Undertaking any reasonable duties as directed by the manager/nurse in charge to ensure safe, smooth and efficient running of the nursing home.
