As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, you will be an integral part of our dynamic team, contributing your skills and enthusiasm to our innovative projects. You’ll work closely with experienced professionals in the field, gaining hands-on experience and exposure to some of the most exciting developments in engineering. Working across automotive, off-road, motorsport, commercial, amphibious and military through to surgical and agricultural robots, advanced groundwork applications and landing gear, the variety is what makes consultancy so exciting and rewarding to work in!

Key Responsibilities

  • Chassis and Suspension Design: Collaborate on the design and development of cutting-edge chassis and suspension systems, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Vehicle Dynamics Analysis: Conduct thorough analyses of vehicle dynamics, utilising software tools to optimise handling, ride comfort, and overall performance.
  • Client Interaction: Engage with renowned global brands, understanding their requirements and providing technical support to deliver tailor-made solutions.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in chassis and suspension engineering, contributing to the continuous improvement of self and our consultancy.

Main function of the role

  • Developing and understanding other areas that impact on designs to sufficient level to control suppliers and understand issues (e.g. hydraulics, electronics etc.)
  • Maintaining documentation and records to exceptionally high standards
  • Drawings & release & issue control
  • High quality report writing and presentation preparation and delivery to clients
  • Customer liaison (from introduction, through quote preparation to project management and continuing relationship beyond project completion)
  • Liaising with customers & suppliers and maintaining business relationships

Qualifications and skills

  • High attainment Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering
  • Strong understanding of chassis and suspension principles – advantageous
  • Exposure to and understanding of CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) and simulation tools (e.g., Adams, Simulink) – advantageous
  • Understanding of first principles calculations to preface, back up & reinforce simulation results (e.g. hand calculations, Excel, Matlab) – advantageous
  • Understanding of Multi-body analysis (such as MSC ADAMS, Pro Mechanica, SolidWorks Simulation) – advantageous
  • Understanding of FEA (such as SolidWorks Simulation, Pro Mechanica or others) Structural, Modal, Kinematic, Compliant analysis capabilities
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Passion for automotive engineering and a desire to contribute to the success of our clients
  • Self-motivated, rigorous & keen to learn
