A permanent vacancy has arisen within our client's Purchasing Department for the Buyer position based in Falkirk.

Pay rate - £35k plus 15% salary bonus.

Company details - Established in 1984, our client is a leading turnkey engineering services business that provides end-to-end solutions in design engineering, fabrication, construction, industrial services, and asset integrity.

The Buyer will be responsible for all commercial aspects of their allocated suppliers, including:

  • Management of key suppliers for various commodities
  • Driving cost reduction on supplier spends through negotiation
  • Supplier management through a ratings system
  • Driving supplier reviews, audits, and agreements
  • Supporting all commercial aspects within the Purchasing environment, including New Product Introductions (NPI)
  • Ensuring the supply chain process is fit for purpose
  • NPI responsibilities
  • End of month reporting
  • Working with the material controller and providing support when required

You will be supplier-focused with excellent communication and presentation skills, good reporting and negotiating skills, and the ability to work as part of a team. Additionally, you should have commercial judgment and contract management skills. Proficiency in Excel is essential, and knowledge of MRP systems is advantageous. Knowledge of importing materials and parts would also be a plus.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience working in a Purchasing environment and possess good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, particularly Excel and Word. Preferably, you should also be HNC qualified or working towards it.
