Job Profile β Consultant β Time and Delay
The Consultant will report to the Divisional Lead and will be a professional with a construction related degree having worked a number of years in:
- A business providing time related dispute resolution/avoidance services and advice;
- A contracting organisation with involvement in managing claims/disputes.
Outstanding candidates with sole employment in one of the above business types will be considered. The Consultant will have experience in providing assistance with time related issues including advice to clients on delay and the like.
Duties will include, but will not be limited to, the following (with the Senior Consultant's support and guidance):
- Reviewing and providing advice on construction programmes.
- Assisting clients to avoid disputes by providing professional commercially focused advice.
- Assisting clients on issues associated with loss and delay.
- Working with Ramskill Martin's Commercial consultants to provide assistance on contentious and non-contentious time related matters.
- Presenting training to Ramskill Martin's numerous clients on time and delay related matters.
- Representing Ramskill Martin's clients in various tribunals.
- Working with solicitors providing professional assistance on time related construction disputes.
Combined with this, the Consultant may be required to provide managerial support to the Divisional Lead. The role requires the Consultant to be a dynamic team player and to be an enthusiastic developer of individuals both technically and personally. The Consultant will have the opportunity to be involved in assisting Ramskill Martin with its ambitious growth plans including the design of new products and services and diversification into new construction sectors.
Person Profile β Experience And Expectations
The successful candidate will be experienced in providing professional time and delay advice or working in a planning and programming role for a contracting organisation. A career, to date, which includes employment by both types of business would be ideal.
- Desire to help develop all members of the professional team.
- Experienced in implementing strategies and the tenacity to follow a project through from inception to completion.
- High level of practical and academic understanding of time and delay matters combined with a clear understanding of construction law would be ideal.
- Assertive, confident and comfortable in a meeting environment and able to actively contribute where necessary.
- Capability to deliver a high standard of services.
- Experience of JCT, NEC and Non-Standard Forms of Contract and willingness to learn more.
- Ability and passion for working as part of a team is paramount.
- Further studies will be actively encouraged.
Knowledge
- Good working knowledge of JCT and/or NEC Forms of Contract.
- To be, or aspire to be, an expert in your professional field.
- Drive, passion and personality to assist in the resolution of construction disputes both professionally, commercially and pragmatically.
- Communication across all levels, both internally and externally with clients, consultants and the like.
Qualifications
- Construction degree qualified with a minimum of 7+ years' experience in the industry.
- Chartered or other relevant professional qualifications would be ideal or a willingness to attain such.
- Advantageous to have a second qualification or an interest and willingness to attain one.

- Excellent communicator; verbally and in written form including report writing.
