Family team based at our York & Huddersfield town centre offices .

You will need to be confident, have a positive ‘can do’ attitude with the ability to work independently and to get the job done.
Following training you will be assisting on Family matters from instruction to completion.
The department works as a team and support will always be available.
You will have excellent communication skills and be able to build relationships at all levels, both internal and external.
This position could suit either an experienced assistant or a graduate looking for a long‑term career within Family law and would require you to do the following:
- To prepare correspondence and documents through audio-typing.
- To prepare court bundles.
- Administration of client files, which will include filing and the opening, closing, storage and retrieval of files.
- Ensure files are tidy and lexcel compliant.
- To prepare mail and enclosures for dispatch.
- To make appointments, arrange meetings and to maintain an up‑to‑date diary for their fee earner.
- Endeavour to resolve client queries where applicable without fee earner intervention and pass any urgent and/or outstanding issues to the fee earner for guidance.
- To keep dictation up to date within agreed timescales and advise when outside of timescale – to be agreed with individual fee earner.
- Demonstrate a proactive attitude towards continuous improvement and development.
- To have full working knowledge of IT systems.
- To ensure billing is completed on a monthly basis.
- Conduct of matters on behalf of clients.
- Ensure that all client work is progressed expeditiously.
- At all times exercise high standards of client care in a professional and pleasant manner.
- Working to achieve individual or departmental fee targets in line with the firm’s business plan.
- Ensuring compliance with quality control procedures for all matters within his/her control.
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of all of the firm’s and client documentation and information.
- General assistance and support in the department.
This is a busy hands‑on support role and you will be a conscientious, proactive and a thorough team player who takes pride in delivering quality work.
