We are looking for an ambitious and driven Contentious Probate NQ – 4 years PQE Solicitor to join our specialist department, dealing with all manner of Contentious Trusts and Probate work. Depending on candidate location, the role can be based in either our Huddersfield (Edgerton) or York office working alongside our Legal 500 recognised head of department. There is the opportunity for a degree of hybrid working. We are ideally looking for full time but would consider part time for the right candidate with a minimum of 30 hours per week over either four or five days.

We are a rapidly growing department, and we are looking to expand further with an individual with experience in either contentious probate, general litigation or private client, with an ambition to specialise in this fast growing area of law. You will manage your own caseload, under the supervision of the head of department and will play a crucial role in further developing the department’s established reputation and actively participate in business development.

Main Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Report directly to and collaborate with the Head of Department, Liam Brooke.
  • Manage a varied caseload, both in relation to cases of your own and working alongside other members of the department.
  • Engage in Business Development and Marketing to assist in building personal reputation and that of the department.

Key Skills Required:

  • Have experience and technical knowledge in dealing with Contentious Probate-related work, general litigation or non-contentious private client work.
  • Possess reliable legal judgement, a good appreciation of legal risk.
  • Must have a clean, valid Practicing Certificate at the time of applying.
  • Professional with a proactive approach; excellent client care skills and ability to deal with client matters sensitively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and organisational skills.
  • Ability to use own initiative and sound judgment.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate and organised case records.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and build strong client relationships.
  • Must have a commercial mindset.
