Due to ongoing success and expansion we are recruiting a number of full time legal assistants to join the following teams:

  • Child Law – Leeds
  • Child Law – Dewsbury
  • Private Wealth and Succession – Halifax

The successful candidate will be confident with a passion to learn and an ability to get the job done. You will learn how to assist on matters from instruction to completion. The department works as a team and support will always be given. You should have excellent communication skills and be able to build relationships at all levels, both internal and external.

This position would ideally suit someone looking for a long term career within the above areas.

Key responsibilities include:

  • To prepare correspondence and documents through audio-typing and word processing.
  • Administration of client files, which will include daily electronic filing and the opening and retrieval of files.
  • To keep filing up to date and ensure that files are lexcel compliant.
  • To make appointments, arrange meetings and maintain an up-to-date diary for their fee earner.
  • Attend to clients both in person and on the telephone and provide such support in a professional and friendly manner in keeping with the firm’s standards for client care.
  • Endeavour to resolve client queries where applicable without fee earner intervention and pass any urgent and/or outstanding issues to the fee earner for guidance.
  • To keep dictation up to date within agreed timescales and advise when outside of timescale – to be agreed with individual fee earner.
  • Demonstrate a proactive attitude towards continuous improvement and development.
  • To have full working knowledge of IT systems.
  • To ensure all financial information is entered and uploaded on the case management system.
  • Ensure that all client work is progressed expeditiously on a daily basis.
  • At all times exercise high standards of client care in a professional and pleasant manner.
  • Working with your fee earner to achieve their fee target in line with the firm’s business plan.
  • Ensuring compliance with quality control procedures for all matters within his/her control.
  • Ensure the confidentiality and security of all of the firm’s and client documentation and information.
  • General assistance and support in the department.
