We are looking for an experienced and reliable Maintenance Technician to support the upkeep and maintenance of our growing portfolio of properties across Birmingham, Worcester, and Malvern. This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of maintenance, repair, refurbishment, and property improvement tasks. The successful candidate will take pride in maintaining high property standards and ensuring our accommodation remains safe, functional, and guest-ready at all times. The role offers variety, with responsibilities ranging from reactive repairs and preventative maintenance to decorating, furniture assembly, and preparing new properties for launch.

Key Responsibilities

  • Property Maintenance & Repairs
    • Carry out general maintenance and repair work across the property portfolio.
    • Perform regular property inspections and preventative maintenance tasks.
    • Respond promptly to reactive maintenance issues and emergency repairs.
    • Complete minor to mid-scale repairs to maintain property standards.
    • Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely and to a high standard.
  • Refurbishment & Property Improvements
    • Assist with refurbishment and renovation projects across the portfolio.
    • Carry out decorating tasks including painting, wallpapering, touch-ups, and general finishing work.
    • Install fixtures, fittings, and wall-mounted items as required.
    • Assemble and install furniture and equipment.
    • Support property improvement projects to enhance guest experience and property condition.
  • New Property Setup
    • Prepare new properties for launch and guest occupation.
    • Assemble furniture and install household items.
    • Complete decorating and finishing works.
    • Set up rooms and communal areas to company standards.
    • Ensure properties are fully operational and guest-ready before launch.
  • Garden & Outdoor Maintenance
    • Maintain outdoor spaces including lawns, hedges, pathways, and general grounds.
    • Carry out seasonal outdoor maintenance tasks.
    • Ensure external areas remain clean, tidy, and presentable.
  • Compliance & Property Standards
    • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and functionality across all properties.
    • Identify maintenance issues before they become larger problems.
    • Follow all relevant health and safety procedures.
    • Ensure completed works meet company quality standards.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in property maintenance, facilities maintenance, or a similar hands-on role.
  • Practical trade skills, including:
    • Basic electrical work
    • Basic plumbing
    • Basic tiling
    • Decorating (painting, wallpapering, wall mounting, etc.)
    • General handyman tasks
    • Furniture assembly
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
  • Full UK driving licence (essential).
  • Comfortable working across multiple locations.
  • Physically able to carry out manual tasks, including lifting and transporting furniture and supplies when required.

Working Hours

This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 6:00pm. Due to the nature of serviced accommodation, occasional weekend working may be required to deal with urgent maintenance issues or support property projects. Weekend work will be compensated through: Time off in lieu, taken at a mutually agreed time, or Overtime pay, where agreed in advance. We aim to keep weekend working to a minimum and provide as much notice as possible.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: £30,000 per annum
  • Performance Bonus: Up to £5,000 OTE
  • Company van provided for business use
