About the Role

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Instrument Coordinator to join our Theatre team at West Midlands Hospital, part of Ramsay Health Care UK.

This vital role ensures the effective coordination, availability, and tracking of surgical instruments and loan kits across all operating theatres. You will work closely with theatre teams, sterile services (TSSU), and external suppliers to support safe and timely surgical procedures, maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate surgical instrument trays and loan kits, ensuring timely availability for surgical procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with Theatre and TSSU teams, as well as external suppliers, to support efficient scheduling and logistics.
  • Maintain accurate records, tracking systems, and audit trails for instrument usage and compliance.
  • Oversee the safe handling, decontamination, and storage of instruments in line with infection control policies.
  • Support stock management and contribute to cost-effective ordering processes.
  • Be the main point of contact for any issues or escalations related to surgical instruments and equipment.

What We’re Looking For

  • Essential: Previous experience working in a Theatre or Theatre Sterile Services Unit (TSSU).
  • Knowledge of surgical instruments and sterile processing protocols.
  • High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Effective communication and the ability to work collaboratively under pressure.
  • IT literacy and experience with tracking systems or inventory software (training provided if required).
