Our Nordic heritage drives our commitment to improving conditions for people and nature through our projects. As a foundation-owned multinational company, the profit we make is reinvested into the company. This ensures the continued development of employees or is used to fund research, charity, and humanitarian projects. Our commitment to be 'The Partner for Sustainable Change' ensures your work makes a meaningful impact on people, communities, and the environment.

Please note – Ramboll cannot sponsor any post-study or Skilled Worker visas for our early career roles, as the Home Office’s eligibility criteria would not be met. You must have the right to live and work in the UK indefinitely, without the need for sponsorship at any time.

As a global organisation, we at Ramboll pride ourselves in our ability to work across a wide range of projects across the world. Our Tunnels and Underground Spaces team sits within our Major Projects division and has a broad portfolio of projects including the world’s longest immersed tube tunnel, the Fehrman Belt Link, as well as smaller frameworks for pipejacking and HDD (horizontal directional drilling) projects in the energy sector. Working on small through to large projects, and from tender and feasibility stages through the handover, as well as on existing asset assessments, working within our Tunnels and Underground Spaces team gives you the opportunity to understand and develop your capabilities and skills in any direction.

A Graduate role at Ramboll gives you the flexibility and opportunity to develop into an all-rounder. You will gain valuable experience working on a broad range of projects such as rail, highways, energy, geotechnics and more. Previous education will be an important foundation, but your ability to learn new engineering concepts and pick up new technology quickly and effectively will define your success. If you enjoy challenging the status quo and finding efficient and novel ways to tackle unfamiliar engineering problems, then you will thrive here, and if you believe that a design team can become more than the sum of its parts through effective communication, then you will fit in well.

You will be working within our Tunnels & Underground Space department, delivering safe, efficient designs for tunnels, shafts and subsurface structures that connect and support modern cities. Your key tasks and responsibilities will be to:

  • Contribute, throughout the project lifecycle, to the overall design and delivery of transport related projects
  • Perform analysis using computer modelling; creating, reading, and interpreting technical material
  • Develop digital tools and approaches to solve engineering challenges for our clients
  • Translate engineering concepts and solutions into presentations, reports, sketches, drawings and infographics that communicate their essence and demonstrate their value to our clients and key stakeholders
  • Learn to identify potential health & safety, design, and commercial risks on our projects and contribute towards mitigating them
  • Proactively pursue continuous professional development including working towards chartership with a recognised institution

We believe your starting point for this role is:

  • A Bachelors or Masters level degree in a relevant engineering discipline (General Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, Engineering Geology)
  • Ability to summarise and present information via different channels (e.g. report writing, Power Point, hand sketching)
  • A proactive and positive attitude to learning new skills; you must be driven and a self-starter
  • An understanding of Digital Automation

We don’t expect you to know everything, but that you show curiosity, take responsibility, and want to deliver high-quality work. Ramboll strives to deliver excellent cross-functional solutions in a professional and well-coordinated manner to our clients. Therefore, we believe you should have good communication and collaboration skills.
