Ramboll is seeking German-speaking Principal Project Managers and Associate Project Managers to join our growing Transport team in the UK. This is an exciting opportunity to bring your project management expertise to a diverse portfolio of transport and infrastructure projects across the civils, highways, ports, aviation, energy and water sectors. You will play a key role in delivering project and programme management services for both internal and external clients, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing client relationships, and driving the successful delivery of complex schemes that support sustainable mobility and future-ready infrastructure. Working across the UK, Ireland and Europe, you will confidently engage with German speaking clients and stakeholders while collaborating closely with Ramboll's teams. We offer flexible working arrangements, although occasional travel will be required to support project delivery and client engagement.
To succeed in this role, you must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and experience of managing the design process and construction of transport projects.
You will join our Project Management excellence team and be part of our wider project management community delivering a wide range of major transport construction projects in the UK and Ireland and overseas. The work is challenging, exciting and involves dealing with clients and a broad range of stakeholders, consequently it is vital for applicants to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and are able to form close and effective working relationships. We are looking for an enthusiastic, confident, capable and professional individual at the start of their project management journey keen to develop in line with international project management standards and interested in progressing to lead and manage increasingly more challenging and complex projects.
Responsibilities- Responsible for the successful delivery of projects from inception to completion ensuring scope, contracts, budgets and QA procedures are all in place and maintained through the project lifecycle.
- Management of the production of technical and commercial specifications, drawings and schedules that comply with the scope of services.
- Management of the design process through design workshops and cluster meetings for small projects, or providing direct support as an Assistant Project Manager on larger schemes.
- Preparing and distributing as appropriate Monthly Reports, meeting minutes and (MS Project) programmes, and deliver (MS PowerPoint) presentations as and when required.
- Interfacing with the internal Planning team as necessary for the production/updating of programmes on larger projects (typically generated in Primavera P6 format).
- Facilitating risk management workshops for both design and project related elements.
- Management of sub-consultants, typically external quantity surveyors, architects, landscape architects, specialist designers and the like.
- Ensuring that fees/costs are prepared on time and correctly submitted to the Client with all necessary supporting information to facilitate prompt payment.
- Managing change within the project scope whilst ensuring delivery to Client satisfaction.
- Management of bid teams and preparation of proposals for multi-disciplinary tenders.
- You will be expected to develop positive working relationships with clients, contractors, internal departments, relevant stakeholders and authorities in discharging our appointment.
- Minimum HNC/HND in a Civil Engineering or related discipline, however a relevant degree is preferred.
- Preferably a member or associate member of an appropriate construction focused association or institute (e.g. APM, ICE etc), or if not currently a member of such organisation you will be required to work towards and achieve this qualification within a reasonable agreed timeframe.
- Experience of health and safety legislation, including CDM Regulations.
- Knowledge and Understanding of the various types of procurement methods for construction projects and the contract/commercial administration requirements (e.g. NEC, JCT, ACE, ICE, GC Works, FIDIC).
- Excellent communication and IT skills are essential.
- Experience in a project management role in the construction industry, preferably within a multidisciplinary engineering design consultancy.
- Experience of bid management for multi-disciplinary opportunities.
- Experience of construction and the design processes.
- Ability to write high quality reports and be able to interrogate financial information.
- You have the ability to manage multiple stakeholder requirements and then communicate these requirements back to the project teams, often across geographical borders.
