Your key tasks and responsibilities are likely to include:

  • Assisting with Environmental Impact Assessments including Flood Risk Assessments, and Water Quality Assessments;
  • Input to design of features related to the water environment, such as river diversions, culverts, bridges and scour protection;
  • Problem solving by helping to find practical solutions to project needs, e.g. water treatment, sustainable drainage (SuDS) design and floodplain compensation, while having an appreciation of constraints such as available space, cost and programme;
  • Co-ordination with other junior colleagues, undertaking and assisting with the day-to-day work required to deliver projects while cognisant of programme and budget;
  • Assisting with environmental permit applications; responding to project briefs, preparing calculations, reports and plans/figures;
  • Site visits and attending meetings;
  • A degree of liaison with clients, contractors, architects, regulators, planners and other professionals.

This role is available in either Edinburgh, Leeds, Birmingham, Bristol, London, Exeter or Southampton; Please choose up to three preferences on your application.

Your skills and experience: We believe your starting point for this role as a minimum is a relevant BEng/BSc within Geography, Hydrology or similar topic. It is desirable that you have a MEng or MSc in an environmental discipline, but this is not essential.
