Ramboll is ranked a Top 10 consultant in the UK and has around 2,000 bright minds working across multiple offices to apply their passion to deliver innovative solutions across Buildings, Transport, Environment & Health and Energy. We love seeing our talents develop and succeed and you will have opportunities to work on challenging and inspiring projects within an environment that is friendly, open and supportive.
Join Ramboll’s UK Healthcare team as a Principal Electrical Engineer and lead electrical engineering design and advisory for technically demanding hospital and healthcare projects across the UK and internationally. You will define resilient, low‑carbon electrical strategies, drive high‑quality digital delivery (Revit/BIM 360) and act as a confident client‑facing technical lead working across multi‑disciplinary teams.
We’re looking for someone with a proven track record delivering electrical building services on complex healthcare or high‑resilience projects, strong digital design capability, and either chartered status or qualifications that support MCIBSE, MIET or MIHEEM membership — with Ramboll providing structured chartership and professional development support. If you’re passionate about innovative engineering that improves patient care and advances sustainable outcomes, this role offers the scope to make a real impact.
Your new role as Principal Electrical Engineer in Ramboll’s UK Healthcare team includes:
- Providing senior technical leadership for electrical building services from concept through to handover.
- Supporting and mentoring the electrical team (engineers and technicians) and coordinating with multi‑disciplinary colleagues (mechanical, structural, public health, etc.).
- Developing and overseeing electrical design concepts and detailed design, producing and reviewing calculations, specifications and drawings to meet UK healthcare standards.
- Leading digital delivery and MEP coordination using Revit (BIM 360) and industry tools (e.g., MagiCad, Dialux, IES, Trimble).
- Acting as a client‑facing technical lead: presenting solutions, chairing technical workshops and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Managing project scope, resource allocation and delivery as electrical/MEP project manager, identifying and mitigating technical and commercial risks.
- Embedding best practice in sustainability, resilience and quality assurance across projects.
- Enhancing Ramboll’s profile by contributing to proposals, technical thought leadership and external stakeholder engagement.
You’ll join a growing, national Healthcare team delivering an ambitious five‑year strategy. Our multidisciplinary group works across long‑term programmes and high‑profile new‑build acute hospitals, delivering projects that improve patient care and support NHS services.
About you:
- Demonstrable track record delivering electrical building services on UK projects — ideally healthcare or other high‑resilience/technically complex schemes.
- Proven technical or project leadership with experience mentoring engineers and driving a collaborative, inclusive culture.
- Degree (or equivalent) in electrical, building services or related engineering discipline.
- Eligibility for, or progress towards, corporate membership (MCIBSE, MIET or MIHEEM) — Ramboll provides chartership support.
- Strong competence in digital design delivery (Revit/BIM 360) and familiarity with MEP analysis/design tools (e.g., MagiCad, Dialux, IES, Trimble).
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and to identify and mitigate technical and commercial risks.
- Clear, confident communicator able to explain complex technical concepts to clients and multidisciplinary teams, verbally and in writing.
- Self‑starter who can work autonomously across technical aspects of the discipline while building client relationships.
We welcome applicants from different career stages. If you don’t meet every bullet but have the right aptitude and passion, please apply — we value potential and will support your development.
We’ll support your professional development and chartership, and we’re looking for a senior electrical engineer who can lead technical delivery and client engagement on complex healthcare projects.
What we can offer you:
- Investment in your development.
- Leaders you can count on, guided by our Leadership Principles.
- Be valued for the unique person you are.
- Never be short of inspiration from colleagues, clients, and projects.
- The long-term thinking of a foundation-owned company.
- Be at the forefront of the use of digital tools.
- Flexible work environment.
- 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
- Matched pension contributions.
- A host of subsidised benefits including private medical insurance and cycle-to-work.
Join a growing, high‑impact team where you’ll develop technical expertise, run your own projects and influence our five‑year strategy. You’ll work on varied, high‑profile hospital programmes and collaborate with international colleagues to share best practice and innovative, patient‑centred design solutions.
