Your new role: The Head of Power Systems, UK is responsible for shaping and leading Ramboll’s Power Systems market position in the UK. The role combines strategic freedom, senior client influence, and technical authority to grow a consulting-led Power Systems business that stands apart in a highly competitive market. This is a senior leadership role with a clear mandate to set direction, open doors, and build a differentiated offer, leveraging Ramboll’s global capability, multidisciplinary strength, and reputation as a trusted advisor in the energy transition.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Market and strategy leadership: Set and execute the UK Power Systems strategy, aligned to network investment, system operability, and net zero drivers. Shape Ramboll’s positioning beyond “study delivery” towards trusted system advisor roles. Influence wider Energy UK & Ireland strategy through Power Systems insight and leadership. Lead the UK priority sector for Transmission & Distribution.
  • Client leadership and growth: Act as a senior client-facing leader with UK DNOs, TSOs, and major contractors. Sponsor key frameworks, strategic pursuits, and long-term client relationships. Lead critical client conversations on system risk, operability, and investment decision-making.
  • Technical authority and assurance: Provide senior technical oversight and assurance for complex power systems work. Set expectations for quality, consistency, and compliance with Grid Code, ENA standards, and industry best practice. Draw selectively on global expertise to strengthen UK delivery and credibility.
  • People and capability leadership: Lead and grow a high-performing UK Power Systems team with clear technical and leadership pathways. Develop senior specialists who are recognised and trusted by clients. Foster a consulting-led, collaborative, and inclusive culture.
  • Delivery and commercial stewardship: Provide senior oversight of portfolio performance, commercial discipline, and risk. Intervene on priority or complex commissions where leadership presence adds value.

About you:

  • Essential: Senior experience in consulting engineering within power systems, transmission, or distribution. Strong track record working with UK DNOs, TSOs, and/or contractors. Evident ability to operate as a trusted senior advisor to clients. Proven leadership of professional teams in a consultancy environment. Strong commercial judgement and comfort shaping bids, frameworks, and client strategy. Degree in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering (or equivalent); chartership preferred.
  • Desirable: Experience spanning both transmission and distribution environments. Exposure to large-scale infrastructure programmes or long-term frameworks.
