Overview
In this role you will lead mechanical design for complex hospital projects, guiding multi-disciplinary teams and delivering low‑carbon, digitally enabled building services. You’ll act as a client-facing technical lead, shaping solutions across the UK and internationally, and contribute to Ramboll’s sustainability and chartership objectives. The role blends hands-on engineering with people leadership, backed by a supportive development path.

Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design and delivery from concept to handover for healthcare projects
- Mentor and develop small to medium-sized technical teams of engineers and technicians
- Oversee MEP coordination and BIM delivery using Revit/BIM 360 and tools like MagiCad and IES
- Produce and review detailed design calculations, specifications and drawings to standards
- Act as client-facing technical lead in meetings and maintain strong client relationships
- Manage project scope, resources and delivery, identifying and mitigating technical and commercial risks
- Support business development with proposals, technical inputs and thought leadership
- Champion sustainability, zero-carbon design, QA and continuous improvement across projects
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and external partners to promote Ramboll’s profile
Key requirements
- Proven track record delivering mechanical building services on UK healthcare or high-resilience/complex projects
- Experience leading project teams or technical workstreams
- Chartered status or progress towards MCIBSE/MIMechE/MIHEEM (Ramboll provides chartership support)
- Strong digital design delivery using Revit/BIM 360; familiarity with MEP tools (e.g., MagiCad, IES)
- Excellent project management skills with ability to handle multiple projects and manage risks
- Clear and confident communicator to clients and multidisciplinary teams
- Autonomous self-starter capable of independent technical work yet building client relationships
